I am so excited that I seriously don’t know how to begin this post. Recently, I was contacted by Wishtrend to test and review a new product that was launching from Klairs on September 22nd. Now, this isn’t just a product that was new in store – no, it is actually the first time that I have received a product to trial pre launch! I am so happy to be given this opportunity and, in return, I now endeavour to give the most detailed and helpful review that I can.
So this new product is a Vitamin E Mask from Klairs, which stand by their motto of Simple but enough. It is a sister product to their Vitamin Drop serum (which I haven’t had the chance to try yet – hint hint) and had hydrating and anti-aging effects, as well as a brightening effect when it is used in conjunction with Vitamin C products. It is a multifunctional product that can be used as a mask, a sleeping pack or a daily moisturiser – although I personally wouldn’t use it as the latter since I’m very conscious of what I put underneath my make up.

This mask comes in a white holographic box that is absolutely beautiful. I wasn’t too happy with the packaging of some of Klairs products (which felt a little bit too no-frills for me) but this knocked the ball right out of the park. It has that same clean and simple look that suits the brand, but the use of holographic foil just lifts the design and makes something that is so simple and minimal look very eye catching and trendy. I definitely think that a lot of people would be interested in this just because of the packaging.
The tub is made of plastic but it feels really sturdy and good quality. It makes for a relatively light product that still has a bit of a high end feel. It also comes with a clear plastic spatula (which isn’t pictured because it’s too transparent to photograph) that also looks a bit more deluxe than the usual make up spoon.
This Vitamin E Mask was formulated with emphasis on three ingredients:
- Vitamin E: Which is anti-aging, softens skin, smoothing and can shield against sun damage.
- Adenosine: Strengthens skin by promtng collagen synthesis. It is also anti-inflammatory, which helps to heal wounds and improves acne.
- Niacinamide: Balances your complexion by suppressing sebum production (which is great for acne prone oily skin) and also helps to stabilise – and therefore boost the effectiveness – of Vitamin C products.
The main reason why this mask is touted as the sister product to the Vitamin Drop Serum is because of the Niacinamide ingredredient. It helps to enhance the brightening effects of the vitamin C which, if used as a sleeping mask, means that you can wake up with a brighter complexion every day.
Wishtrend’s website goes a lot more in depth into how the ingredients work together, which is a little bit complex for me, but if that is something that you’ll be interested in just click here to check it out.
I have used it on its own as it is said that you can mix a small amount of it in with your essence or cream to boost its effectiveness. The formula can be more sticky if you use a lot of it (due to the nature of Vitamin E) so it is suggested to experiment with mixing ratios to suit your skin type.
Another interesting thing about this product (which is probably a property that I get more excited about than I should) is the formula! It is a bit like the Innisfree Wine Jelly Sleeping Pack where it has a jelly like texture that sort of melts together like a memory foam. Aside from allowing for a perfect product surface every time (see photo above) it also means that, when you apply it thickly as a mask, the product can essentially form a light layer over your skin and can then allow it to absorb moisture overnight better than it would with a thinner formula.
Wishtrend explains this a lot better on their website so I’ll just quote them here: “It feels like pudding/custard, but the formal word for this texture is ‘Shape memory cream’. This might be unfamiliar, but basically shape memory means it remembers the original shape, so the product comes back to the same shape as it was. Therefore, this texture helps the product tightly adhere onto the skin, giving an even and flat surface when application.”
Examples of this can be seen below.
I tested this product out primarily as a sleeping mask and I loved putting it on. The texture is so fun to use and I always woke up with super soft and hydrated skin – even though my skin has been in a terrible condition as of late, this product has been improving it for sure. It is hydrating enough to use on its own but, since it has a slight tacky finish after it absorbs, I am hesitant to use it as a daily moisturiser as I feel like it would affect the finish of my make up.
I didn’t have the Vitamin Drop Serum to use together (which is unfortunate) so I tested using my It’S Skin Vitamin C effector as an alternative. As the effector is meant to be used in addition to a serum – also as a booster – it is understandable that the brightening effect wouldn’t be as dramatic. However, I did seem that my complexion was brighter and more lively on days when I had used these products together. In the future, I’m definitely interested in trying them together.
Overall, this Vitamin E Mask is a welcome addition to the Freshly Juiced family and I still love the Klairs approach to skincare. This is a newly launched product that has been a great addition to my routine and so I would definitely recommend other people check it out!
