Sheet masks are a kbeauty staple but, if you’re looking for something just a little bit fancier, then hydrogel masks are the way to go! This type of material tends to adhere better and, while they usually contain less essence, the hydrogel actually holds hydration in for longer so I find that the effectiveness of these masks are far superior. I’ve used a lot of these in the past and definitely turn to them for my ‘special’ days.
Recently, I got my hands on the Glitter Jelly Mask Pack from Elleybear – these come in three colour variants targeting either anti-wrinkle, whitening or soothing. In retrospect, I probably should have went for either whitening or soothing (the pink or green variant respectively) but the truth is that I’m a sucker for anything purple and so I’m now using anti-wrinkle masks haha! Well, it’s never too early?
The Glitter Jelly Mask Pack, which comes in a pack of five, is available on BB Cosmetic for USD$29.95. I have to say though, these are pretty expensive for hydrogel and, in my opinion, there are better masks out there with a better price point. If you do want to grab it though, or any other masks from BB Cosmetic, you can always get an easy 5% off with my code (QAL3F6ZA8YZ).
Now, let’s get into this review because I have some thoughts!
According to the product description the “Glittering jelly mask pack adds fun to your party during or after the party.” As I previously stated, this mask pack comes in three different variations with the purple primarily targeting anti-aging concerns. It comes in a box of five and, from what I can see on the website, isn’t sold individually. Aside from its skincare benefits, the selling point of this mask is definitely the packaging – it’s super cute and has a glitter hydrogel design!
The main points of this product are:
- Contains lavender, rosemary, tricolor violet extract
- Improves flexibility, elasticity and moisture on skin
- Contains antioxidants and antimicrobial phytochemical content (helps with elasticity, wrinkle improvement and brightening)
- Has a relaxing lavender scent
- Uses a Survicode System (which is patented in Korea) to refine and firm skin texture
- Certified by KFDA
I’m such a sucker for packaging so naturally, that’s what drew me to this mask in the first place (and because I knew that it would make for a fun photo). The unit carton is made from a soft matte finish cardboard with glossy spot UV accents. It’s an average quality, nothing too fancy, but I think it feels nice.
I especially like the Instagram inspired design, which even has hashtags to further accent the selling points of this mask – clearly Elleybear know that this is a instagram-worthy mask. The bear design is a bit childish but works in this context. It’s so cute!
Opening up the mask, the sheets are individually packaged in a matte silver packet with the purple bear design. It doesn’t have the ‘instagram’ concept but it’s still cute and the quality is pretty good! Personally, I would have wanted something a bit more here – maybe some holographic foil designs (to suit the glittery mask texture) or even using more purple instead of the silver.
Overall, I like the external packaging of the Glitter Jelly Mask Pack, and I like the concept of it. Although I wish the internal design was nicer, it’s still decent. I think that this would be a fun gift!
When I went to apply this mask, I had a bit of difficulty getting it out of the packet. The hydrogel is actually quite slippery (because it’s smooth on both sides) so was slipping down the plastic. That isn’t usually an issue, but was definitely an early sign that the adherence wouldn’t be as good as I’d expected. From my experience, masks with a slightly textured underside just grip better to skin; for this one, I had to be a bit careful when applying it (because it has a tendency to slide at first) but found that it stayed well after two or so minutes.
The mask comes in two pieces so, once I did manage to get it on, the fit was really good. The hydrogel was strong enough that it didn’t stretch nor tear, and it was also dense enough so that it didn’t dry out too quickly. The mask definitely has a light, pleasant lavender scent and – as you can see below – little glitters! It doesn’t add anything to the skin benefit, but it’s fun 😀
Following the directions, I kept the mask on for approximately ten minutes. It didn’t dry out during this time, but I do feel like it somewhat lacked in hydration in comparison to others that I’ve used. In addition, it also left a bit of a tackiness on my skin afterwards, but that was easily fixed with a face mist.
On the plus side, this mask was immediately cooling on my skin and got rid of most of my redness. Since I’ve only tried this a few times, I can’t fully review the anti-aging benefits but I did see that my complexion was brightened after use. This is the type of mask that I would use immediately before a special event, but not necessarily as part of my evening routine, as the effect was mostly gone by morning.
In general, I think that the packaging and the design of this mask was fun. I had a good time using it. However, both the price point and the effectiveness seems to fall short when compared to other hydrogel masks – this is probably more gimmicky than anything.
Check them out if you want to play with something sparkly (or if you want that Instagram shot), but if you want some real benefits then there are a lot of other masks that you can check out at BB Cosmetic. You can also get hydrogel patches (the COSRX Hydrogel Very Simple Pack) which are more affordable at USD$17.65 for 60 pieces, and allow you to customise where you want the mask to work its magic.
Here’s the verdict!

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
The packaging is cute and the hydrogel looks nice but, aside from that, I really feel that this product is somewhat gimmicky. It’s quite expensive for rather average results so, unfortunately, I won’t be recommending it.
WHERE TO GET IT FROM
The Glitter Jelly Mask Pack (by Elleybear) was gifted to me by BB Cosmetic, where it is available for USD$29.95. However, I would also recommend checking out some of the other hydrogel masks that they stock in their sheet mask section! Remember that you can also use my code for 5% off – QAL3F6ZA8YZ.
