It’s just my luck that the moment I’m getting ready to review pimple patches, my skin is actually flawless (for once in my life). For this reason, this is super delayed but I really wanted to try these out properly and give you a real review rather than just an overview of the product. This is the Perfect Pimple Patch from Subi Beauty, a hydrocolloid patch to help drain and heal break outs.
If you’re unfamiliar with Subi Beauty, that’s because they’re new! They call themselves “half Aussie, half Korean” – Australian owned but born in Korea. They aim to merge Korean skincare innovations with Australian minimalism to create simple and effective skincare.
Since they are a new brand, they currently only carry the Perfect Pimple Patch, but I have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot more from them soon! These are available for purchase on their website for USD$29.95 for a set of 3 packs (that’s 54 patches in total), along with free shipping on all orders.
Check them out here and let’s also get into this review!
According to the product description, these “invisible hydrocolloid patches extract impurities, prevent bacteria from spreading, camouflage pimples and help heal your skin quicker.” They also claim to be thin enough to wear 24/7 – which is especially helpful if you’re in a country where hydrocolloid patches aren’t that popular yet (I find that people wear them all the time and boldly in Korea, but I often get questions when I do in Australia since people don’t know what they are).
These are an especially great alternative acne care for people with sensitive skin because they don’t use any chemicals – that is, the hydrocolloid patches don’t use any acids or other ingredients that can cause sensitivity.
In addition to that, these patches are cruelty free and vegan, as well as manufactured mindfully (under safe, legal and humane working conditions) with minimal environmental impact – so you can be assured that you’re doing your part for humanity too!
These patches can be used at any stage of a pimple or break out, for example:
- When you see a head emerging on a pimple, the patches will help to drain it
- If most of the pimple is gone, you can continue to use the patch to ensure that it is fully clear and on its way to healing
- And if you’ve picked at that pimple (I want to say don’t do this, but I do it all the time), the hydrocolloid can also help to protect and repair skin!
The theme of this packaging is most definitely holographic – in fact, even the padded envelope that this arrived in was holographic! It’s so pretty and also really exciting to open up. The actual packet has an interesting and fun design – it really comes down to the colour, but I like that it’s also not over the top.
The packet is made of a smooth plastic and feels like a nice quality too. It has a thick seal on all four sides and a cut on the edge to show you where to tear – It has a more trendy and playful feel than other similar products that I’ve come across.
Each pack of the Perfect Pimple Patch contains one sheet with 18 patches in a standard size of 10cm. The plastic sheet beneath it is perforated so that you can tear it as you go – this is an especially good feature and I’ve noticed in a few different pimple patches now (and boy I am glad for this innovation). The size of the patches work well for me – they generally cover up any of the pimples I have but aren’t so big that they’re obvious. If you have a larger pimple then you can use this to treat the head of the break out (since the rest is just the result of irritation).
I have used quite a handful of different pimple patches by now and I have to say that the newer ones are so much better than what they used to be. When it comes to efficacy and absorption, I feel like these Subi Beauty patches work as expected – they can fully drain pimples in about two applications (depending on the size) and definitely work better on spots where there is already a visible head. Since I have a tendency to pop (it’s a terrible habit), I noticed that this also helped them to heal, though there was still some scarring.
The most stand out thing about these Perfect Pimple Patches is that they have remarkable adherence! I actually tried one of these on my back (or, as I describe it, my chicken wing area) and the patch didn’t shift at all through the night. You can do your skincare or even wash your face over these and they won’t come off until you want them to. However, it is important to note that once you tear the patch off, it doesn’t reapply very well so it’s best not to remove it until you’re fully ready (this is pretty normal though).
The patches have a matte finish so won’t stand out much on your skin and its translucency means that it is barely visible once applied. This is great because they actually recommend to keep these patches on for around 12 hours (so all day) to maximize its effectiveness. I generally just use them overnight but I still find that it’s treated my pimples very thoroughly.
So, here’s the verdict!

OVERALL RATING? 8.8/10
WOULD I RECOMMEND?
I would be recommending these because they just work really well – the adherence is actually even better than I expected which allows the patches to work better and for longer. Although these are a bit more expensive than some other pimple patch brands (which are also available in single sheets rather than packs), they aren’t too bad if you also take into consideration the free shipping.
