I got this blush from the Too Faced Peaches & Cream collection for my birthday and, honestly, the little story behind it makes me so happy (and although I don’t think my friends will be reading this review, I will still thank them here for being thoughtful). The story behind them choosing this blush is that I’ve nagged them a lot about using their fingers for make up application – I generally don’t like to use my hands for anything, even though I went a long time applying my BB cream with nothing but my fingertips. Because of that, I have difficulty with most cream based products, whether it is eyeshadow, highlighter or blush. Even if it’s a great formula, I won’t reach for it because it doesn’t fit into my make up routine so my friends made sure that this was a product that could be used with a brush!
This is the Peach my Cheeks Melting Powder Blush, which has a cream to powder formula that actually applies best with a brush (surprising since it is technically a cream blusher). The fact that I reach for this blush over many others so often proves this point – because I wouldn’t use it otherwise. It has easily become one of my favourite products in this collection and my only disappointment is that there isn’t a bigger shade range. According to the Mecca website, this comes in six shades (of which I have one so far) and there is also a similar highlighter and bronzer shade.
If you’re keen to get your hands on this, you can find it at Mecca for AUD$44 or on the official Too Faced website for USD$30 depending on where you’re from. Otherwise, let’s jump into the review!
One of my favourite brands in Western beauty at the moment is Fenty Beauty and I have been very vocal about my support for them since their launch. Since then, they have released a few different collections, all of which have been so beautiful (you can see my first impression of the Galaxy Collection on my channel) but I have been consciously trying to buy less make up so I didn’t splurge on the entire line like I did before.
For this release, which is a bit old news now because it was the summer collection, Fenty Beauty brought out some eyeshadow duos – called the Killawatt Foil Duo. They were released in three different shades and I picked up Mimosa Sunrise/Sangria Sunset which is a beautiful pink and orange duo that caught my eyes immediately. It’s been so long that I was planning on skipping this post but, with their new products launching soon, I figured that I might as well.
You’ll be glad to know that these duos are permanent in the collection and are selling for either USD$36 on the Fenty Beauty website or AUD$54 on the Sephora Australia website.
Anyway, so that’s my introduction to this post! I will be keeping this short or read on for my review!
I was super lucky to have been in the States when this Smashbox collaboration launched, because the promotional videos got me so hard that I really didn’t want to wait for it to come to Australia (which usually takes a while). Luckily, this one wad actually pretty fast and it’s now available at Mecca if you’re in Australia or, of course, you can check out the official Smashbox website or Sephora.
The product that I’m talking about is, in my opinion, the best collaboration to have been released this year – it is the collaboration between Smashbox and artist Vlada! I follow the latter on Instagram and I love her work, so I was naturally really excited when I heard about this. The range includes liquid lipsticks and a eyeshadow palette (which I also grabbed) but the star of the show is definitely the Petal Metal Highlighter. This was released in three shades and I got Gilded Rose, which is probably the most standard champagne colour but is the most flattering on my paler skin tone. Rosemantic is a stunning pink shade that would be well suited for darker skin tones or as a blush topper. There is also an exclusive Sephora shade (which is also available at Mecca) called Prismatic Petal; it has a different packaging, which is mainly why I didn’t get it, but it also has a more glittery finish and is quick different to these main two.
So, I’ve taken a lot of photos because I think the packaging is the main selling point of this product. Still, I’m here to give you an in depth review of the product and share my experiences of it, so you can hopefully get this before it’s gone (but hey, I’m crossing my fingers for more Vlada collaborations in the future because she is a talent!)
I bought this product with my own money from the official store. However, this post also contains affiliate links as an alternative shopping recommendation. These go towards supporting Oh My Stellar and future content.
As well all know, and something that I personally admit all the time, I am absolute trash for 3CE products. Every time they release something new, I am crazy obsessed with wanting to try it out and – out of so many Korean brands – they make some of my top favourite colour cosmetics! They’re always very pigmented with a great, quality formula and their packaging design is totally my style. It’s very simple but trendy, without being cheap looking.
Out of all of their products, I am a massive fan of their blushers in particular. I love how they blend on my skin as well as the buildable pigmentation, so after trying out one of the Duo Color Face Blushes a while ago, I took advantage of Sephora’s VIP sale (which gave us up to 60% off on select items depending on how much we spent) and grabbed an addition two of the duos.
I did check online and, aside from the official Stylenanda website where they have all of their products (and where they sometimes do free international shipping), I don’t have a lot of websites that sell these duo blushes. Instead, you can check out StyleKorean if you want to check out their recent Mood Recipe blushes or BeautyTap if you want to see their original blushes – both of which are absolutely A+!
Now, let’s get into my review!
When ever someone asks me to recommend a blush, 3CE is always where I turn to – especially their pressed powder blushes. I’ve used so many of them before (and have a thing for collecting their matte shadows) and they’ve almost never failed me – except for their red blush which wasn’t bad but wasn’t as perfect as the others. Either way, the simple fact is that I absolutely love their blushes and I’m always really confident in their formula.
When 3CE started teasing their new Mood On & On Collection, I was absolutely over the moon. Their original collection had some amazing products – including one of my favourite brown/bronze shimmer shadows – and the Red Recipe was a brilliant collection that bright some vibrancy back into the kbeauty scene. For their new Mood Recipe collection, they pulled things right back again and settled somewhere in between with soft, nude pinks and really wearable colours that fit really well into anyone’s make up routine. These colours are ‘reminiscent of a secret garden’ and ‘gentler and softer than ever’.
Whether you like nudes or bright colours, I think that there’s a place for these new tones and so I was super keen to get some things in Korea. I wanted their new eyeshadow palettes, but I feel like they’re pretty pricey, and so I got one of the blushes instead! This product has that same soft blendability I like, as well as a more elegant colour range – which is totally new to my collection.
This product was sent to me by StyleKorean for review purposes. I was not paid for this post but please note that affiliate links are used on my blog. These go towards supporting Oh My Stellar and future content.
I saw these cushion blushes in 3CE in Myeongdong and I nearly bought them – only, I quickly remembered that StyleKorean had actually mailed these to me for review! This silly beauty addict nearly bought doubles… but then again, who is surprised? (especially since I already did that with another product). These are the Blush Cushion compacts that I’ve been eying since their release. I have a few blush cushions at home but, to be honest, I don’t use them very often. I often find that they’re too sheer on my skin tone and difficult to build.
However, these had me pleasantly surprised! These are selling on StyleKorean for USD$17.48 – a pretty good price – but they only have limited stock and colours so get in quick. It’s been a while since these cushions were released, so I imagine that they are saving inventory for more recent releases too (which I will be sure to check out).
So, let’s get right into the review. Click on to read my thoughts and experiences with this product.
I don’t review Etude House products very often on my blog, mostly because I find their brand a bit of a hit-or-miss. Some things work really well for me and others leave me rather disappointed. One thing that I have to say though, is that they’re really great at the packaging game and so all of their limited edition collections and special releases are something to anticipate. I was really excited when I went into a store in Seoul and, not only did I get to check out the collection, but they were also having a sale where the whole Universe Holiday Collection was on sale! Of course, I wanted to grab everything but, in lieu of going totally crazy, I got one of the palettes (which I was already eying) and two of the lipsticks (which I’ll talk about at a later date).
The following is called the Multi Palette and contains six shadows (both matte and glitters) and a highlighter. It comes in two different collections – Pinky Galaxy (cool toned) and Golden Galaxy (warm toned). As most people are aware, I usually gravitate heavily towards the more cool toned palettes and I did check it out first, but I ended up getting Golden Galaxy instead because the colours seemed to swatch more pigmented and creamy.
From my previous experience, Etude House eyeshadows can also be a hit-or-miss. Some of them are pretty decent! In fact, there used to be this one pink single shadow from them that I used daily and stocked up on too. However, their formulas seem to lack consistency and so there are some shadows that are really lacking in pigmentation (and by that, I mean that I have some pans where I can’t even pick up any colour).
So, let me talk about this product in depth and give you my thoughts of every individual shade.
I did not walk into Sephora expecting to buy a highlighting palette. In fact, I hadn’t even used anything from Zoeva before, so I had no idea about the quality of their products. However, since swatching this product in store, I was so obsessed with the colour that I went back to get it. This Strobe Spectrum comes in three shades for three seasons – Spring, Summer, and Winter.
Why is there no Autumn? I’m not sure.
I was originally looking at the Winter palette because the colours looked so pretty and pigmented in the pan. However, the colour of the Spring palette completely took my breath away! In the pan (and in pictures too, as you will see below) the colours actually look like nothing special. They all look extremely pale and similar. However, once you actually apply the product, you will find that they have a beautiful rainbow shift – perfect for the unicorn make up that is trending now, and a lot more effective than the rainbow highlighters.
Keep reading to see swatches.
I am one of the luckiest girls in the world – I swear. I had been eying this Sweet Peach Collection from Too Faced for a long time. Part of it was definitely the famous scent (which is amazing, by the way) and another part was this super cute packaging! For my birthday, I had a dinner get-together with a bunch of friends and some of the girls got together to spoil me with both the palette and the blusher from this collection. It’s my first experience with Too Faced products and I’m definitely not disappointed. These are all available for purchase from Mecca or US Sephora and, aside from these two products, also include lip glosses and a glow palette. There have been even more releases from Too Faced for the holiday season lately and I’ve been also keen to try them out.
Until I get my hands on them though, let’s talk about these two products!
The first is the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Collection which, according to the website, is a ‘new take on neutrals featuring fresh-picked shades of peachy pinks, corals, bronzes, and pops of purples that will have you looking sweet as a peach year-round.’ I also have on hand the Papa Don’t Peach (which is the cutest pun I have heard in a long time because I legitimately love that song). The website states that, ‘This peach essence-infused blush is the perfect bronzy peach shade that adds a pop of warmth, a sexy glow, and fresh juicy scent to any complexion.’
These products all smell like peaches, claim to suit all skin tones and have a rich, pigmented formula. I have been using them almost every day and I find that they’re perfectly suited for any sort of occasion.
Read on and I’ll get a bit more in depth with it all!
Regardless of whether you’re a kbeauty fan or a western beauty lover, there is no doubt that Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty release is the launch of the year! There’s been so much talk about it all over Instagram and Youtube and, even though I thought that I would be avoiding this rush – I caved.
With how fast things were selling out, I headed to Sephora during my lunch break and got a couple of products that I’ve been especially in love with. There’s actually a few more things that I wanted to get but I wasn’t absolutely sold about them yet, so maybe I’ll pick them up later. For now, I have the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer, the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo and a Match Stix Matte Skinstick. Although it isn’t the full collection, I think that I have a good enough variety to give my thoughts on this brand – it’s strengths, weaknesses and why I am obsessed!
As I disclaimer, I had to admit that I do love Rihanna as a singer and a celebrity. I haven’t been following much of her recent work but she was one of my idols during high school and music college – I love her Good Girl Gone Bad – Rehab sort of era and it’s been years and I am still not over it. That being said, I judge make up products by the quality and not the celebrity behind it so below are my honest opinions on everything.
Are you ready? Let’s go!
