One of the favourite colour schemes of 2017 – and with that trend still continuing this year, especially in kbeauty – is peach! Although this trend is slowly fading out, it is such a easy to wear and flattering colour scheme that I think it’ll stick around through it all. It’s a very pretty and youthful twist on a neutral eyeshadow look, which is why you will find a lot of peach tones in Korean beauty trends. So, since I don’t try out a lot of Asian eyeshadows, I thought that I would try out this new, limited edition palette from Holika Holika. This is the Glossy Play palette which is part of their Spring/Summer collection, the entire range which includes lip tints, lip sticks, eye liners, highlighters and blushes and even single eyeshadows. I love the packaging of these so much but, personally, I haven’t used much from the brand. It isn’t because I don’t like Holika Holika, but rather that I’ve had bad experiences with their retail stores in Korea and so I never go into them anymore.

The holographic and bright packaging definitely caught my eye first, but – colour wise – I want to try and compare this to the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. I know that a lot of these Western brands can be difficult to access in some countries, or that they may be substantially more expensive than Korean alternatives, so I’d really like to continue exploring some of these ‘dupes’ in the future. There are certainly differences in the shade range (the Too Faced palette has more variation in darker shades and a greater variety of formula/textures) but I personally think that this Glossy Play Palette is still a very great option for those who prefer a lighter, Asian inspired make up style.

I had this palette gifted to me by StyleKorean to review but it’s unfortunate that they seem to be out of stock now! Hopefully, they will bring in a few more before it completely disappears (since it is a seasonal collection). You can still go to check out other items from the Glossy Play range though.

Did anyone else used to dot their i’s and j’s love hearts? I don’t know what it is about people that are so obsessed with love and little hearts – they’re cute, yes, but I guess this is just an example of how ingrained a childhood of fairytales and princesses in towers can be. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with living in our fantasy lands, as I’m still extremely attached to my Disney stories as well, and there is a subtle way we can keep instilling that youthful dreaminess in our lives.

Today, let’s look at the loveliest lipstick I’ve ever seen! This is the Heartful Moisture Lipstick with the cute, witchy kbeauty brand Holika Holika. This product caught my eye right away with it’s cute packaging and design, so let’s take a closer look at this.

Review: My Korean Makeup

Fact: getting packages in the mail makes my entire day better, even if it is a weekday and I’ve been half awake at my office desk for hours. It’s always been better when it’s a kbeauty delivery – which is exactly what happened a few days ago! Here’s a haul of a package I was sent from online store My Korean Makeup. They are a Norway based business, meaning that their website is superbly navigable for a foreign audience (like you and I) but have employees shipping from South Korea, meaning that they also get new, fresh stock at great prices.

The default currency is set to NOK, but I will usually change it to USD as that is the currency that Paypal uses. This is one of my favourite functions of the website, as I often get confused trying to convert prices from KRW; the only thing that could make this better would be having AUD as an option but since we are still a fairly small market, I’m not too surprised.

The overall selection at the store is a little limited, but they carry most of the popular brands and products so would still be suitable! I’m also told that they are restocking (and bringing in new stock) pretty much weekly, so I’m keeping my hand on the refresh button. For those who are new to kbeauty, they also have curated box sets (note: not a subscription box) to get you started.

Aside from free international shipping to all countries (except South Korea), My Korean Makeup also have a great return policy – full refunds are available within 30 days and, if the fault is theirs, they will also pay the shipping cost. They’re very responsive to email and actually have a contact sheet online too, so there’s no need to go digging for email addresses.

All in all, their website was super easy to navigate with a very secure check out system, so I would definitely recommend checking them out!
