This product was sent to me for review purposes.

In recent years, there’s been a great movement towards natural and sustainable beauty products, as well as new interest in the active beauty audience – and this is definitely something that I’m keen for! Although I don’t personally lead a very active lifestyle (I do go to the gym a few times a week but it’s begrudgingly and I’m more of a homebody than anything), I feel like the two actually go hand in hand – if you work out and want to treat your body well, then surely that will reflect in your skincare too.

On the topic of skincare, sometimes I have to remind myself that it isn’t necessarily all about my face (although it can feel like it at times). There are a number of body skincare products that I personally enjoy and, for this Christmas period, I also want to share these two new ones that I’ve been testing out from Yuni Beauty.

In the past, I have used their Shower Sheets (the Rose Cucumber scent is – in my opinion – the very best) and the Glow Between Jelly Micro Mist (which was interesting but I haven’t thoroughly tested it yet) – both of them were very unique to my collection and were unlike anything that I’d used before.

These new ones are primarily targeted for the body – the Glow with the Flow and the Count to Zen. Super cute names aside, they are also very universally suitable products that would work for most skin types and preferences. It is definitely perfect if you’re wanting to get a Christmas gift, perhaps for someone who prefers simple essentials.

In this post, I won’t be doing a super in-depth review, as I want to get this written while you can still do your shopping, but first impressions will be here!

So, read on to find out more!

About the Brand

Yuni Beauty is described as ‘Mindful beauty for an active life’. The brand aims to develop healthy and natural skincare solutions that are time saving, health restorative and stress relieving – it is especially targeted for people who are highly active or live fast-paced lives (although, lets be honest, nothing is stopping you from enjoying Yuni Beauty even if you’re a sleepy head like me).

I first came across this brand at a Sephora Australia event and I was actually most impressed by their passion for ‘responsible beauty’. Aside from their plant based, natural formulas, all of their ingredients are also sustainably sourced and their products free from animal testing.

Truthfully, I’m not someone who puts too much weight on using natural formulas or avoiding chemicals (because I don’t personally believe that they’re all bad) but I do believe that sustainability and responsible consumption is really important. I respect Yuni Beauty a lot for this and I believe that this is something that a lot of other people can get behind.

If you are from Australia, Yuni Beauty is available at Sephora Australia (both online and in-store) whilst other countries can also shop from their official website.

Yuni Beauty Glow with the Flow Review

Glow with the Flow | AUD$28

The first product is their Glow with the Flow Face and Body Scrub. It is suitable for all skin types and is described on their website as “a daily skin refining treatment featuring naturally active essential oils to gently stimulate the senses and ease stress.” It is recommended for normal, combination, oily and dry skin types (not sensitive skin though).

The key benefits are:

  • Daily skin refiner
  • Exfoliates and energizes
  • Helps restore effective breathing
  • Natural aromatherapy

As with other body scrubs, this product helps to lift dead skin cells to leave your complexion radiant and fresh. Although it is a physical exfoliant, the formula is relatively gentle and – as long as you aren’t sensitive to essential oils – would be suitable for face too.

Personally, I’m using this on my arms to help with keratosis (which is also fondly known as chicken skin haha). I’m used some other scrubs for that in the past too but find that results are generally very short lived.

Packaging

The packaging for Yuni Beauty tends to be on the simple side but suits the ‘vibe’ of their brand well. The Glow with the Flow comes in an orange water colour designed cardboard unicarton – though the best part is that this box is definitely sustainably made. It is printed with soy ink and, if you look at the back, you will notice that this is also printed on FSC Mix (which means that the wood within the paper is sustainably sourced).

Opening it up, the product comes in 120mL plastic tube with a sticker label (unsure about whether this is recyclable). The overall design of the package is simple but with a vibrant, modern aesthetic. While it isn’t the fanciest thing around, I personally appreciate the simplicity of it as well as the small references to the brand’s yoga roots (see the cute little tree stance (?) on the front of the label)!

Formula

This Glow with the Flow scrub has a creamy formula with a relaxing scent (which comes from the use of essential oils). It smoothes out easily on skin and contains fine granules that lightly exfoliate dead skin cells to leave your complexion super smooth. After using this, I also feel that my skin is well nourished and hydrated too.

Some key ingredients include:

  • Natural exfoliants, including Bamboo, Apricot, and Oat Kernel.
  • Fair trade Green Tea Extract reduces the formation of free radicals, eliminates bacteria activity on the skin, and prevents blemishes.
  • Organic Baobab Oil creates a protective barrier and effectively smooths, softens, and conditions the skin. It also provides omega fatty acids that act as an anti-inflammatory on the skin.
  • Aromatic blend of Essential Oils — including frankincense, ylang-ylang, and lavender — yields a stress-relieving aromatherapy.

This product is recommended to be applied and worked onto dampned skin – which is my preferred application method too. I actually tried it on dry skin too (for my arms) as that would usually make any body scrub stronger but felt that the formula isn’t ‘liquid’ enough to work like that.

In general, this is a body scrub that I’m enjoying. It’s more gentle than the other physical exfoliants that I usually use (because I’m a violent beast with my body care) so I think that it will take a little longer to really improve my keratosis. However, I also think that the finer formula is less likely to aggravate my skin condition and might be better long term.

Scent-wise, I actually enjoy it too but I am conscious that it uses essential oils. Whilst I’m not personally sensitive to that, I know that a lot of people are so I hope that an unscented version is released in the future!

Here’s the verdict!

OVERALL RATING? 8/10

THOUGHTS? My first impressions are good! I’ll be continuing to use this and will update on how it helps with my keratosis. As I previously mentioned, this is more gentle than what I would usually use but I think that this would actually be more effective. Personally, I won’t be using this on my face though as I’m trying to minimize the use of essential oils.

Yuni Beauty Count to Zen Review

Count to Zen | AUD$28

The next product, which has very quickly become a nightly essential for me, is the Count to Zen Rejuvenating Hand and Body Creme. Once again, this is a product that contains essential oils and can be used either on your hands or all over your body. I personally love to use this on my legs after shaving as I find the formula super hydrating and nourishing; it’s especially great to apply at night as the formula does wonders when left to absorb.

From the website, the product description states: “Restore moisture-loss and hydrate your skin with our fast-absorbing, non-greasy natural hand and body cream… treats your skin to a soothing blend of natural ingredients and essential oils to rejuvenate skin while relieving stress.” Unlike the scrub, this is suitable for all skin types (including sensitive skin).

Key benefits include:

  • Quick absorbing skincare
  • Hydrates and conditions
  • Made with natural essential oils

The Count to Zen claims to be a great stress reliever (most likely due to the aromatherapeutic scent), to relieve from full body dryness and also soothe redness and inflammation. I personally found that this cream worked great over slightly irritated skin (such as from minor razor burn).

Packaging

I don’t have much to say about the packaging for the Count to Zen as it’s essentially the same as the Glow with the Flow except with a green design and a different yoga-inspired symbol on the front. I do like the generous 120mL size though, which is great if you’re using as as a body cream.

Again, I really appreciate that Yuni Beauty is aiming to be more sustainable with their packaging. Although I’m not sure about how recyclable the tube is (and I’ll definitely update this if I find out), I like that they are using both soy ink and ethically sourced paper. The simplicity of the unicarton also minimises waste and the tube design makes it easy not to waste any product.

Formula

The Count to Zen has a super nourishing, creamy formula that gives both immediate and long lasting moisturising benefits. Although it’s a rich cream, it is still relatively lightweight and will basically melt into skin with little-to-no greasy or sticky residue. When I use this at night, I find that my skin is super soft to the mornings. I especially love to use this on my body after a shower as it is also soothing and with a calming natural scent.

Key ingredients from this cream are:

  • Fair Trade Green Tea Extract to fight the formation of free radicals and reduce blemishes by eliminating bacterial activity.
  • Organic Baobab Oil full of Omega Fatty Acids to smooth and condition skin with anti-inflammatory benefits, while ensuring moisture stays trapped by a protective barrier.
  • An aromatic blend of Essential Oils, like Chamomile, relax your mind and sooth your senses.

The 120mL bottle is, in my opinion, really great for using over the body at night (although I have seen reviews from people who love this and actually want an even bigger bottle)! It’s also alright for carrying around as a hand cream since the soft plastic tube isn’t too heavy but I would still prefer a smaller travel size for that.

In general, this is one that I quickly came to love. We’re moving into summer here which means that I’m wearing a lot more skirts and can’t really get away with not shaving anymore. This is just so great on the legs afterwards and also helps to soothe any irritation. Similarly to the Glow with the Flow, I’m also using this on my arms to see if it will help with the keratosis.

And, here’s the verdict!

SO WHAT IS IT?

A nourishing and quick absorbing hand and body cream

OVERALL RATING? 8.7/10

THOUGHTS? I fell in love with this way too quickly so I’ll definitely continue to use this – especially on the drier areas of my body. I especially like that the hydrating benefits last a good amount of time and that the formula is also soothing on skin. That being said though, I won’t be carrying this around as a hand cream as it’s just too big for my bag (and I don’t want to leave it at work).

They’re the new ones from Yuni Beauty that I wanted to share with you guys! This is the second time that the brand has sent stuff over for me to try out (you can check out my IGTV for their Shower Sheets demonstration) and I think that they have a very strong passion and sense of their brand. This is really perfect for people who love natural and simple skincare – everything from their packaging and formula speaks directly to this audience.

If you want to check out either of these products, whether it is for yourself or a lucky friend, head into your local Sephora Australia or check out the website too for all of the Yuni Beauty offerings! I would recommend checking out the Rose and Cucumber Shower Sheets, which I totally intend on bringing on holidays!
