Review: 1 Day Tattoo Liner (K-Palette)

K Palette 1 Day Tattoo Alice in Wonderland Alphabeauty Japanese Beauty Review

I am obsessed with Disney – I think that is a fact that everyone should be aware of. Whenever there is a Disney collaboration, my head pokes in in interest… which is exactly what happened here. Looking at the different products on Alphabeauty’s website, I was drawn towards all of the Alice in Wonderland collaborations that seemed to be happening over in Japan. K-Palette’s 1 Day Tattoo came recommended to me by Sophia, so I was pretty excited to test that out.

I am generally very loyal to my Clio Kill Black, which is the first and most effective liquid liner that I’ve learnt to use on a daily basis. Aside from that, I’m very much a gel liner type of girl because I like to have as much control over my liner as possible and a very deep black. This one, however, comes really close to the Clio!

This eyeliner is part of the Alice in Wonderland collection and comes in various variations: Brown Black, Natural Brown, Super Black and Deep Brown in both pencil and liquid liner. I decided to go with the Super Black Liquid Liner because I was interested in seeing how it would hold up in comparison to my holy grail product, the Clio Kill Black.

This liner comes in a really cute plastic packaging with a Disney style Alice in Wonderland illustration. The actual pen is a pretty simple, pine liner shape with the Alice in Wonderland image printed on in a silver foil. The product promises a super rich colour pigmentation, a fine brush with good control, quick drying and a water proof formula which is also easy to remove. This product also has Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen essences.

There are some instructions and information on the back but, unfortunately, I can’t read Japanese at all so I had to rely on the Alphabeauty site for my research. They’re helpful in answering questions though and their product listings are detailed enough.

The silver foil print of the pen is really pretty and I love the Alice in Wonderland detailing. I’m a little worried about how it might scratch off in my bag but that tends to happen with any printed packaging. It’s a little plain otherwise, but there’s nothing bad I can say about it. The cap is very sturdy and has never slipped open in my bag (and I doubt it ever will). It basically clicks in place.

As you can see, I was really taken by the cute Alice in Wonderland packaging, though the pen is a little disappointing (design wise) once it’s been taken out – if anything, they should have probably taken more inspiration from those Sailor Moon liners! However, the design is similar to the Clio and is a good size, easy to hold and is well balanced. It’s quite light and can easily fit in any bag that you’re carrying.

Ignoring my very poor penmanship below, you can see that the liner gives very good line control and a good, intense black. It definitely looks even darker on my eyes than on my hand (just because I can drawing lighter and on a smaller area). It is relatively waterproof but, for my sensitive eyes, does not have the longevity of the Clio liner. Once it dries, it will stay on for most of the day, unless you have watery eyes like mine.

However, if you so much as rub the corner of it, the liner will completely smear. The Clio tends to rub off rather unobtrusively but this one can give you cat eyes from hell. That being said though, it has much better control than the Clio Kill Black liner and, in my opinion, is actually less likely to clog up compared to the Clio brush liner.

Overall, I really enjoyed this liner. I now keep it in my handbag to touch up through the day but tend to use my Clio Kill Black in the morning as it lasts longer. I think the K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo liner has a more intense black than my Clio, though it could be because it’s newer. It’s definitely better for super sharp and precise lines though!

SO WHAT IS IT?

super black waterproof liquid liner in Alice in Wonderland limited edition

THE GOOD

  • Good pigmentation
  • Sharp lines
  • Very good pen control
  • Cute (but also classy) packaging
  • Sturdy click on cap
  • High quality tip that doesn’t clog easily
  • HA and Collagen essences

THE BAD

  • Somewhat waterproof, but not smudge proof

WOULD I REPURCHASE?

Although it isn’t as budge proof as my Clio liner, this is definitely a product that I will be looking into keeping on hand as a staple. I find that it works really well as a touch up or on top of other liners to give a very black, crisp finish. Perhaps in seasons where my hay fever isn’t going too crazy it may stay on it’s own as well!

HELPFUL TIP

Liquid liner definitely takes some getting used to so get some practice before you use it properly. Don’t press too hard and start with light lines, you can always fill them in or thicken them afterwards. If you make a mistake, just take some make up remover and a cotton bud to clean it up!
