This product was sent to me for review purposes.

I actually can’t believe how long it’s taken for me to get on board with the Face Halo Makeup Removers, but I’m never going back! Face Halo launched back in 2017 and their makeup removers were so innovative and completely new to the market. In a way, I feel like their introduced a whole new product category and have since triggered a plethora of copies.

Their makeup removers are essentially a sustainable alternative to makeup wipes so are perfect for people who are environmentally conscious or those who like to remove their makeup as soon as they get home, but maybe save the full cleansing routine for later in the night.

All of these Face Halo Makeup Removers are reusable and washable, so a single pack is going to last a significant amount of time. Aside from the Face Halo Original (which retails for AUD$30 for a pack of three), they also have the Face Halo Pro, Face Halo X, Face Halo Body Exfoliator and some Accessory Packs!

All of these are available on their official website (which has free shipping Australia-wide), or you can also check out AdoreBeauty and BeautyBay. But before all that – let’s get into this review!

The three pack comes in resealable packaging, which is great for storing your extras until you need them

Product Description

The Face Halo Originals come in packs of three, with each pad able to replace up to 500 single-use makeup wipes – and that’s a lot of landfill. In fact, they claim to actually remove makeup better than a standard wipe through the use of their HaloTech Fibres (which are a hundred times finer than human hair)!

To use these removers, you just need to add water – either cold or warm though I personally find that warm water is always better for oily-leaning skin types. The fibre strands are able to clean to your pores without the need to rub – just wipe your makeup off (and gently does it)! For those who wear heavier eye makeup, they also recommend rehydrating the pad and holding it to your eyes for a few seconds before wiping.

Since these Face Halo removers only use water, therefore containing none of the soaps or chemicals from regular makeup wipes, this means it is suitable for all skin types and sensitivity levels. These wipes can also be machine washed around 200 times too – just make sure not to use any fabric softener or it’ll impact the efficacy of the fibres.

Personal Experiences

As I stated at the beginning, I totally love using the Face Halos and would be recommending anyone who regularly uses makeup wipes to switch over. Although the initial price is more, the long term costs of using these pads is actually much better than single-use wipes (and had much less environmental impact). It’s makeup removing claims definitely hold true and I found that these could easily remove even my waterproof mascara.

That being said though, I would never recommend to use these instead of a proper cleansing routine, even if they are more effective than makeup wipes. I usually use these as a first cleanse – so removing any surface level makeup – but following up with my regular routine later on at night. I also like to use these in the shower in conjunction with my cleaners just to get an extra deep clean.

Here’s the verdict!

WOULD I RECOMMEND?

I would absolutely be recommending these to anyone who regularly uses makeup wipes; the Face Halo removers are a significant improvement in so many ways. Again, don’t replace your cleansing routine with this, but treat it as an initial cleansing step – both your skin and the environment will thank you for it.

Pro-Tip: If you’re a beauty blogger/content creator as well and find yourself working on a lot of make up looks or swatches, these would be an amazing investment for you as well! Get a great clean between those ‘looks’ without having the scrub your face to oblivion!
