This product was sent to me for review purposes.

Cute collections always make me smile and, of course, Innisfree has succeeded again with their 2020 Jeju Color Picker Collection – this year inspired by cherry blossoms! It is perfectly timed with the season in Korea and was available from March to the end of April, but availability has been extended due to recent events. Instead, they will sell the remaining stock once they reopen stores too!

All of these products take inspiration from the blossoms, so you can expect gorgeous packaging and a lot of pink! This collection includes a Nail Set, Matte Mineral Setting Powder, Luminizer, Lip Tinted Sticks (available in 3 shades) and – of course – the Cherry Blossom Eyeshadow Palette. I was lucky enough to get my hands on most of this collection and I am in love! It’s actually rare that I like every single thing in a collection, but I couldn’t find a way to dislike anything. I’ll say it now that this is definitely highly recommended from me.

That being said, Innifree stores in Australia are currently closed due to COVID19 so they are only selling from their official stockist (AdoreBeauty), as well as other unofficial stores. I noticed that AdoreBeauty only carry their skincare so if you’d like to get anything from this collection, you may need to wait until stores reopen here in Australia. It’s worth the wait though!

And now, let’s get into this review!

Innisfree Cherry Blossom Collection Kbeauty Review

Cherry Blossom Nail Set | AUD$14

The Cherry Blossom Nail Set is kit of two cherry blossom inspired polishes and a sheet of cherry blossom themed nail stickers. It has a long-lasting base as well as a triple-care formula with calcium, argan oil, and tangerine oil to nourish and protect nails from damage. For those who don’t like the smell of nail polish, I also noticed that these have a bit more of a fruity scent too – the description states that “[a] tangerine fragrance with enhanced concentration is used to enrich the gentle scent of citrus.”

Although this is the first thing that I’m writing, it was actually the last product I tried. I have been using gel lately but wanted to give my nails a ‘break’, so opened these up. I ended up loving these and I found that it wore well for nearly two weeks (with no top coat). The lighter tones also mean that small chips aren’t as visible, which is great for people like me who tend to chip polish within a day.

The two shades in this kit (and my thoughts on them) are below:

Shade 1 – A sheer caramel brown with pink and white confetti

I usually have a lot of trouble with ‘confetti’ or ‘glitter’ polishes but I worked out that the best way to apply this is with multiple thin layers (to then build up the confetti). This shade feels a bit ‘rough’ to the touch so it needs a top coat, but the sheer caramel base is actually really smooth and wears brilliantly. This shade wore the best for me and was actually still going strong after a week.

Shade 2 – A light pink micro-glitter pearlescent shade

This shade is so sparkly and definitely caught my eye right away. Although it is described as a pearl shade, the micro-glitters are very visible and so I think that this has a more modern feel (whilst some pearl nail polishes feel dated to me). The finish for this is very smooth so a top coat isn’t necessary but recommended. Out of the two, this one chipped first and by the end of the week, I noticed that it had scratched off from the middle of my nail too.

Thi kit also comes with nail stickers but I personally don’t like to use them with regular polishes, though I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy them. I will likely save them to use with my gel polishes at a later date (since they will last much longer).

After one week of wear (and a lot of typing). You can see that the pink pearl had chipped on my pointer nail but the confetti shade was still going strong!

THOUGHTS? I think that this is a good deal for the set and I genuinely really enjoy these, though I wouldn’t normally get much use out of the stickers. It’s a nice set that would be good as a gift too, but really comes down to what type of polish and shades you like.

Cherry Blossom Matte Mineral Setting Powder | AUD$10

Described as a silky loose powder, this product “controls excess oil for a soft, natural-looking matte finish.” It has a soft pink colour, a subtle Cherry Blossom scent and is formulated with light pink pearl powder to brighten through light reflection. It is a shade that works perfectly for me but I’m not sure about how it will work for darker skin tones.

The product comes with a pink tinted tub with a pink cap, a soft puff and a sieve dispenser. The packaging is almost the same as their regular no sebum powders, but has been redesigned for the theme.

I love the immediate finish that this powder gives me and I found myself reaching for it all of the time. The powder is very finely milled so doesn’t give a heavy or powdery look, but gave a natural matte finish. After application, I felt that my skin felt smooth and actually soft.

Depending on your skin type, the effectiveness of this may vary. I kept my skin matte for a couple of hours before it needed retouching, but that’s fairly average for me. The product is easy to reapply – I don’t usually use the puff but I like it for on-the-go.

THOUGHTS? The price point for Innisfree setting powders are so good and this one is even better value – the regular tubs are 5g and this one is 6g. I enjoy the scent and I absolutely love the finish of this so I will definitely be recommending it to everyone.

Cherry Blossom Luminizer | AUD$16

This is a product that actually blew me away with its pigmentation. Although I started out using only kbeauty, I often feel that Korean cosmetics tend to be a bit sheer though I have noticed that that’s changing with the trends now. Out of so many Korean highlighters that I’ve used – there have been very few that I actually liked. This one is gorgeous though and definitely comparable to high end brands too!

According to the product description, this product has a clear base and a “highly reflective smooth pearl pigment” to create a dewy glow. It is also described as being bouncy, buttery soft and easily blendable. Out of all of these claims, the only one that I don’t quite agree with is it being ‘bouncy’ but that’s just a textural thing and – if anything – I like how neatly flat this pan is. The formula is a bit like a cream-powder hybrid though and applies like a powder highlighter – it is easy to blend with either a brush or fingertips.

The thing that really blew me away was the intensity and the colour of this product. It is absolutely blinding, almost metallic, but doesn’t look overly glittery or messy at all. The pale pink colour is also very flattering on my skin and, since it has a clear base, there is no shadowing. As long as you like the reflect colour, I actually think that this will suit a lot of different people (though perhaps will work best on cool and neutral undertones).

THOUGHTS? This highlighter/illuminator is absolutely stinkin’ gorgeous and I was so shocked when I did that first swatch. I find this comparable to some of my favourite (expensive) highlighters so that price point is brilliant too. If this formula was part of Innisfree’s permanent range, I would definitely buy more of them!

Cherry Blossom Lip Tinted Stick | AUD$12

This lip tinted stick actually comes in three different shades (Coral, Pink and Red) but I received the Pink (Shade 2) from the brand. If this is still available later on, I actually want to pick up the Red as well because – again – the formula of this has really impressed me! This is described as having a super slim, petal-shaped bullet for precise application, as well as a watery smooth formula with a dewy finish. It claims to be long-lasting with vibrant colours that are comfortable on the lips.

All of the product claims are spot on. The formula is dewy, so glides smoothly lover lips for a juicy appearance. It doesn’t accent dry spots but, of course, still works best over well moisturised lips (as do any lip colours). The lip stick has a semi-opaque formula but the colour pay off is very bright and easy to build up for a gradient lip too! I also really like how slimline the packaging is, as it’s super easy to just pop in your bag (or pocket).

Longevity wise though, this product doesn’t last through any food or drink, and will mostly fade in a couple of hours. This is what tends to happen with more emollient formulas, so I’m not too surprised. It doesn’t leave much of a stain on lips either so regular reapplication is necessary. However, I like that it doesn’t dry your lips out but rather hydrates, making it easy to touch up.

THOUGHTS? I really loved this lip tint stick and, again, I’m wondering if this formula is part of their permanent collection because I would love to get more shades. The three shades are nice (and have good variety) but they are restricted for any limited edition releases. The formula of these are really good and I would definitely recommend them to people!

Cherry Blossom Eyeshadow Palette | AUD$36

Lastly, of course, the most exciting part of this collection is the eyeshadow palette. For this, Innisfree have released a nine-pan palette with flattering warm pink shades in a range of different textures. The product claims to be “formulated for an easy application” with a lightweight, building and non-crease formula that also has high colour payoff.

As with most other Korean eyeshadows, I usually go into them expecting the pigmentation to be quite sheer but this palette is one of the top kbeauty palettes that I’ve used! It isn’t the first palette to impress me with its colour payoff, but it’s one of the few.

The shade range is really good, as it gives you a lighter base, as well as some medium and deeper tones. There is also a good combination of mattes, metallics, shimmers and sequin shades (I am actually not sure what that type of formula is properly called – it is essentially a matte shadow with added sparkles). With this palette, I am able to create both soft daily looks and also deeper, more smokey eye makeup. The packaging is good (sturdy, and the clear window in designed in a way that doesn’t make it looks cheap) so I feel like this would be a great travel palette provided that you would be bringing your own brushes.

The mattes are easy to use and blend out with a brush, whilst the metallics and shimmer shades need to be applied with a finger. This is also one of the few palettes where the sparkles (from the sequin shades) actually show up once applied on the eye, though still need to be carefully – and minimally – blended to avoid sparkling like a vampire.

Overall though, I was definitely impressed with this palette. The colour story is not too different than what I would expect from a kbeauty brand but some of the shades are absolutely beautiful (I love the metallic pearl shade in the middle and it applies amazingly); the palette also gives enough versatility for different events, making it a great travel option.

I also really liked the simplicity of the packaging. The pink colour is consistent through the whole collection, but I really like that the clear window on the front of the palette is actually ‘framed’ by the pink too. This actually makes the palette look and feel more high quality. The price point is good too and, at just AUD$36, is just over drugstore pricing.

OVERALL RATING? 9/10

THOUGHTS? I am usually lukewarm about a lot of Korean eyeshadows (hence why I only use a few trusted brands now) but this one is up with the top favourite KBeauty palettes! The pigmentation really surprised me and, overall, the formulas are brilliant especially given that price point. They are absolutely crease proof and wore well throughout the day too. There was a little bit of fall out in the pan but none on application.

My only criticism is that the colour story isn’t anything different to what I’ve used before, so I would only recommend this if you don’t already own anything similar.

And that’s my full review on the new Innisfree 2020 Jeju Color Picker (Cherry Blossom) Collection. There is really nothing in this range that I disliked so I’m really choosing between good, better and best here. I would say that the palette and the highlighter (illuminator) were my top favourites here but I honestly wouldn’t give anything anyway!
