Christmas has just passed us but I have one more post to write about the MAC x Patrickstarrr collaboration so I’m speeding through it tonight! I’m sure that these will be available for a little while longer but they’re definitely limited to the Christmas season, so you’ll need to rush in to get these before they’re totally gone.
These are from the fourth and final collaboration with Youtube star (and incredible make up artist) Patrick Starr – Sleigh Ride, perfectly red and shimmery for this holiday season. The full collection includes three lipsticks, five dazzleglass shades, two eyeshadow palettes, three loose pigments, a mineralise skinfinish and the hyped patrick’s powder. Naturally, I wanted to get everything but I’m on a mission not to spend my life’s savings so I cut it down to what I love the best from MAC Cosmetics – their bullet lipsticks!
I got myself two out of the three shades from the collection and they’re honestly so perfect for me! Here we have Spank Me Santa and Slay Ride – a dusty rose brown and a bright pinkish red. I’ve been wearing them obsessively since I got them so, click on for photos, swatches and a review of my two new favourite shades!

Packaging
The products from this collection come in limited edition, exclusive red packaging – from the cardboard unit carton to the actual bullet (which is what actually matters in the end). It just looks so eye-catching and festive, and would make a perfect gift for this season – if you’re looking to give one of them away.
The unit carton has a holographic red design with Patrick Starr’s signature boldly printed over the top of it. This is similar to the bullet which has a red crush foil look (similar to the wrapping paper of a gift) and his white signature alongside the MAC Cosmetics logo. Personally, I love this packaging and, if I didn’t already love the shades, I would have picked up one of these just for the bullet design.
My only complaint would be that, since I own two of these, I have to rely on the sticker on the bottom to tell which is which. Although the red is really beautiful and suits the rest of the collection, I think that it would be nice to have some sort of signifier on the outside – whether the bullets are different shades of red for have a colour coded rim. In general, this is a problem I have with MAC Cosmetics lipsticks.

Shades & Formula
As I previously mentioned, this collection has three shades in the bullet lipstick – they’re all pretty wearable and would suit a good range of skin tones and styles, in my personal opinion. The range includes:
- Peachy Peter: A cream neutral beige
- Spank Me Santa: Dirty rose
- Slay Ride: Brownish orange red (hmm…)
Aside from the last one, which I personally would describe as a cool-toned red with pink undertones (though others have also agreed that it’s an orange red), the rest of them are pretty spot on. The only shade that I wasn’t interested in was Peachy Peter and that is mainly because I seldom wear beige nudes (but that is changing soon thanks to MAC – stay tuned). All in all though, the range seems inclusive and well rounded to me.
All of the lipsticks come in the matte formula, which is personally my favourite from them. They give a no-shine, full opaque finish with a creamy but matte formula.

Application & Personal Experiences
These lipsticks apply very smoothly and, since they are in a bullet form, they also have minimal to no feathering – unless you’re like me and purposefully feather out the edges, of course. The colour can be sheered out but, generally, I like to wear it with full opacity. Both of these are very flattering against my lighter complexion, which one being more neutral than the other (see swatches below).
They’re not too drying on the lips, even without a primer base, and wear naturally. I find that the colour does disappear once you eat anything, but otherwise the lipstick stays well on the lips. It fades without being patchy or leaving dry patches, so it’s also easy to touch up and reapply. This is the sort of product that I would keep on hand, but isn’t something I’d expect to last all night.

Overall, I am in love with these lipsticks and I think that Patrick has done an amazing job on all four of these collections! This is definitely one of my personal favourites because, in my opinion, a wonderful packaging concept (which is both traditional and super glam) has come together with great colour stories and selections.
These are definitely products that I’ll be getting a lot of use out of even outside of the holiday season – which I definitely appreciate. I also like that the price point for these is the same as their standard bullet lipsticks.
So, here’s the verdict!

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Yes! If you can still get your hands on this collection then I would highly recommend going to check out these lipsticks – even if it solely for the collectable purpose. Spank Me Santa is definitely my favourite out of the two as I find it to be a very flattering and wearable alternative to a nude lipstick for me. Slay Ride is also a gorgeous bright red that can be sheered or feathered out for a more worn-in look or worn with full opacity for a bold look.
If these shades aren’t your style, or if the collection is sadly out of stock, then I would still recommend checking out MAC Cosmetics lipsticks. After all, they’re a cult favourite for a reason.
WHERE TO GET IT FROM
For Australians, this collection is available directly from MAC Cosmetics so either check out your local store or pop onto their website – where they still have some of these in stock.
