So I first decided to try out the Blithe Patting Splash Mask because it was so unique – I used masks all of the time and I’ve tried some pretty wild things (hello foot peeling mask) but I have never come across a ‘splash’ mask. To be honest, I didn’t really understand what it was either but, now that I’ve tried it, I have zero regrets. In fact, if I had actually searched up some reviews about this before hand, I wouldn’t have hesitated either – I’m definitely not the only one who loves this.
This is a liquid mask solution that is known to give pretty much instant results. The application of it can be a bit messy and there’s a learning curve to it but, once you get it, it’s pretty enjoyable. I first tested this out by using it every day for around 4 days, which was fine on my skin, but I read some (pretty reliable) reviews online that recommended to use it every second or third day instead, so I switched it up. Since this can be a bit pricey, I think that it’s better to be able to use it less often too anyway.
So this mask is currently selling on StyleKorean for USD$35.91 for a 200mL bottle – which is enough for approximately 30 uses – or USD$29 for a 150mL bottle. It comes in three different variants too but the one that I have is the Energy Citrus and Honey. Jump onto their website if you want to pick it up too but otherwise, let’s get into this review!
Product Description
According to the product description on StyleKorean, this product is “inspired by the Korean bathhouse tradition of splashing botanical steeped water onto the face after cleansing to tone and brighten skin.” By splashing and patting this formula (after dilution) on the face for just 15 seconds, it gives instant results comparable to using a standard sheet mask. it moisturises skin and gently exfoliates. Also this specific version of the mask is ” formulated with citrus extracts and honey, aiding in brightening and energising dull, tired skin.”
Other available variants include the Rejuvenating Purple Berry (“Contains the extracts of 5 berries that have rich polyphenol and anthocyanin which make skin supple and smooth… It is effective for reducing skin blemishes and improving skin tone”) and the Soothing & Healing Green Tea (“…reveals smoother skin and leaves the face feeling refreshed and glowing. It’s formulated with green tea extract, salicylic acid, and tea tree leaf oil to soothe and calm irritated, acne prone skin”).
I personally feel that this is a great treatment for someone who wants to really treat themselves but doesn’t necessarily have the time to be masking every night. However, it is important to note that this formula must be diluted with water – it’s actually very concentrated and very strong too so, if you have sensitive skin, I would be a bit careful.
Packaging
The packaging of the Patting Splash Mask isn’t bad but surprised me a bit – in particular, because of the clear plastic unicarton. As you can see from above photos, the product comes in a clear plastic box with the sides printed (mostly details but there’s a bit of an orange design on one side too). I like that they’ve printed the Blithe logo on the top of the box (it’s a beautiful logo and gives it a classy feel) but I’m personally not into this type of packaging.
The benefit is that these plastic boxes are more resistant to dents or tearing. Although there isn’t much protecting the bottle, this sort of material is more sturdy in comparison to most cardboard and would generally arrive looking almost perfect. However, I just think that it looks a bit cheap, which is a shame because the design of the actual bottle is gorgeous.
Opening it up, you’ll find the product is housed in a colour tinted plastic bottle (see photo below). The colours are coordinated to the different variant, so it won’t be confusing if you own more than one, and the bottle shape is quite petite and sturdy. I especially like that the whole bottle is printed – there’s no sticker labelling so this won’t get ugly if you keep it in the shower.
The subtle pattern (which you can also see below) and the simple white text on the front gives it a high-end, classy feel which correlates with the price point. It also features a grey cap with the logo moulded on the top – this also doubles as a measuring cap.
There’s nothing overly gimmicky about this packaging – it’s just simple and beautiful design. Aside from not liking the plastic box, I actually don’t have any complaints about it. The quality and design is great and well-considered.
Application & Personal Experiences
So there are two different ways to apply this – which which is probably messier than the other:
- Avoiding the eyes and lips, pour a capful of Splash Mask onto face then use the shower water to splash and rinse for 15 seconds.
- Alternatively, pour a capful of Splash Mask into a bowl of water (the ideal ratio of formula to water is 1:100, so a capful requires 700ml of water). Stir with fingertips, then splash generously onto face. Gently pat until it’s damp but no longer wet.
For me personally, I ended up doing a combination of both methods. I mixed the formula with a small bowl of my shower water and then splashed that mixture onto my face for 15 seconds. Some reviews online have suggested mixing the formula with distilled water and putting it into a spray bottle – which hypothetically should work too but I haven’t personally tried. I think that the key thing to remember is to splash and dilute the mask when you use it; aside from that, it really comes down to what works for you.
The Energy Citrus & Honey Mask has a very pleasant citrus scent which is calming when it’s used in the shower too. The whole application process can be a bit messy though, which is why I preferred to use it in the shower. At the beginning there were definitely some moments when I poured the Splash Mask on my head instead of my face haha!
That being said, it doesn’t really feel like anything during application – I have no tingling sensations so it really just felt like I was washing my face. It was once I actually stepped out of the shower that I really noticed the difference. My skin felt softer, hydrated and was immediately brightened. I have been having issues with scarring and uneven skin tone lately (much in thanks to my hormonal acne) but this mask improved it within seconds.
The skincare benefits for it don’t last forever though, which is why I tend to use it every second day. However, I’m fairly confident that this could do great things with regular use.
For the product itself, I have no complaints. I really enjoy using it, the results are so visible and, once I used it a few times, I got the hang of application too. Perhaps my only concern would be that the formula is pretty strong so I wouldn’t personally recommend it for sensitive skin types.
Although I had no adverse reaction on my face, I noticed that my hands (which are a bit dry already) became to peel almost immediately after use. It wasn’t damaging my hands as it was more of the dead skin cells and minor callouses peeling off, but is visible proof of how potent this product is for exfoliation.

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Honestly, I am in love with the Patting Splash Mask and I would definitely be recommending this to people. Although it can be a bit hard to use at first, it isn’t too bad once you get the hang of it and can be pretty relaxing too. It’s pricey too but the results are worth it.
That being said though, I would recommend this mask for all skin types except for sensitive skin – I’m not sure about the other variants but this one is strong and may be a bit risky.
