This product was sent to me for review purposes.

I first came across the Innisfree Jeju Cherry Blossom range when I was in Shanghai – it was totally new at the time and, after trying it in store briefly, I was pretty keen to try it out myself. However, the exchange rate meant that it cost an exorbitant amount more than it should have so I have waiting for it to come to Australia.

And yes, finally it’s here! Innisfree Australia launched the Cherry Blossom Collection a few weeks ago and I was invited to the pop-event event too. I had a great morning with all of the creative little features that the team set up (and you can find my post about it on Instagram too), but the best thing that came out of that was that they actually gifted me two of the products from this line – and they’re exactly the two that I wanted to get!

I received the Jeju Cherry Blossom Tone-Up Cream and the Jeju Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream, which are really the heroes of this release. Both of them are available with Innisfree Australia for AUD$36 each either online or at one of their brick-and-mortar stores.

Before you get shopping though, let’s get into this review!

About the Collection

Innisfree is a k-beauty brand well known for their use of natural ingredients from Jeju islan, most of which are treated or extracted with specific techniques for optimum efficacy. This is the first time that they have used Cherry Blossoms in their skincare and it was definitely well received in Asia – there was so much hype around this! According to the official website, “The brightening effect of Jeju cherry leaf extracts, obtained after three weeks of low temperature aging with Jeju lava seawater, vitalizes dull skin to make it look clear and bright.” Therefore, the main skincare benefits from this collection is brightening and hydration.

The Cherry Blossom Collection contains there are four products, all with similar ingredients and ranging from AUD$27–AUD$36:

The common selling points between the whole range (taken from AdoreBeauty) is as follows:

  • Jeju Cherry Blossom extract defends the skin from free radicals, helping to leave it softer and smoother
  • Niacinamide keeps the skin balanced and the skin strengthened
  • Naturally derived betaine helps to balance your skin’s hydration levels

Packaging

The box packaging which you can see photographed above is actually from the PR package so there isn’t much point in me reviewing that (but it’s really pretty and I love it). The unit carton for the regular product has the same design as other Innisfree products – it’s printed on recycled paper with soy ink and had hints of pink (the theme for this collection). As usual, I think that Innisfree has well designed and modern packaging design and I like that they use environmentally friendly production methods; which suit their brand image perfectly!

Opening it up, you’ll find that both the Tone-Up Cream and the Jelly Cream both has similar packaging too but with slightly different shades of pink to match the formula and texture of the product. The Tone-Up Cream as a more opaque pastel pink look, which reflects the creamy colour of the product. Meanwhile, the Jelly Cream is slightly more translucent with a darker pink, emphasising the ‘jelly’ texture. It also has a white speckled lid which is a nice touch and quite different to the others in their range too.

The only downside to this, which is also consistent with other Innisfree creams, would be that the tub is larger than is necessary. If I were to use this for travel, I would rather it’s condensed and easier to pack.

Overall though, I like it – the tubs have flat lids which make them easy to stack and the subtle changes in colour make them easy to differentiate. It doesn’t blow me away and isn’t much different from their previous releases, but it’s functional, good quality and lightweight so I have little complaint!

Jeju Cherry Blossom Tone-Up Cream | AUD$36

First off, is the Tone-Up Cream! This is probably the number one most popular product from this collection and it also surprised me the most. While other similar creams are usually white (and give that ‘brightening’ effect by essentially creating a white cast), the Jeju Cherry Blossom Tone-Up Cream actually has a pretty pink colour and so looks more natural on application too. I would still primarily recommend this for people with light to light-medium skin tones.

The website describes this as a lightweight tone-up cream that brightens skin with a natural tone without dryness for a moist and revitalized complexion. Checking on the AdoreBeauty website, this product:

  • Keeps the skin protected from environmental aggressors that cause dark spots and pigmentation
  • Strengthens the skin barrier
  • Helps prepare the skin for makeup application

The Tone-Up Cream is recommended for normal, combination and oily skin types (so yes, totally perfect for me!)

I have been loving using this cream both at night and during the day. Since my skin tone is relatively light (I wear a Korean shade 21), I have been able to wear this instead of foundation on lazy days. It doesn’t give much coverage, of course, but does a great job of evening out my complexion and giving me that boost of hydration that I need. Most other tone-up creams can be pretty drying and apply patchy too, but this one makes skin look (and feel) hydrated while also applying perfectly.

The only downside that I can think of is that this product has a pretty strong scent – some people love it but others are very sensitive to it. It’s a very sweet scent that lingers a bit after application, but I personally don’t mind it. If possible, I would recommend checking it out in store before buying.

Here’s the verdict!

THOUGHTS? I personally really like the Jeju Cherry Blossom Tone-Up Cream, and I’ve tried a lot of these in the past. Some have been good, others have been disappointing, but the formula of this one shows how skincare has advanced over the last few years. I like that it brightens and evens out my skin tone but also gives adequate hydration to be used alone. It also works well under make up or combined with other products.

This next product is the other one that I was interested in but, to be honest, didn’t think it was too outstanding – however, I have to say that I’ve been enjoying this both alone and combined (depending on the time of the day). This is a clear, gel-type cream that abundantly hydrates dry and dull skin for a moist and revitalised look. It has a cooling and lightweight texture that creates a dewy, glowing complexion. It also absorbs easily into skin with a non-sticky finish.

From the AdoreBeauty website, this product:

  • Protects your skin from free radicals to improve skin pigmentation
  • Helps keep the skin from redness and irritation
  • Feels refreshing while it hydrates

Similarly to the Tone-Up Cream, the Jelly Cream is also recommended for normal, combination and oily skin types.

Since my skin type fits perfectly into those categories, I have been loving this product. I started out using it mixed in with the Tone-Up Cream at night, which makes a great lightweight night cream – the jelly texture of this product perfectly balances a slightly heavier cream formula. It gives a great boost of hydration that is sufficient throughout the night but not overwhelming, so I don’t wake up greasy. The Jeju Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream also absorbs quickly into skin, so it’s great for ‘lazy nights’.

In addition to this, I have also been using it alone earlier in the day. My skin often feels fatigued and overwhelmed, especially coming home from a long work day, so I like to apply this right after cleansing. This soothes my skin, hydrates and refreshes it instantly. I feel like this may work underneath my make up too but, since I have been using the Tone-Up Cream instead, I feel like this may make my foundation too dewy for my personal preferences.

That being said though, this product also promises to protect skin and improve skin pigmentation. I haven’t personally seen much of that yet – I think that it’s helped with some surface scarring from recent break outs but the effect isn’t that visible. I will have to touch back on it after I finish this tub.

All in all though, I think that Innisfree has released another winner! The only downside would be, once again, the scent. This one is lighter and has a more fresh-sweet scent. It also doesn’t linger after application, which may be easier for those who are sensitive.

Here’s the verdict!

THOUGHTS? I enjoyed the Jeju Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream mostly to hydrate and soothe. It’s become a staple part of my evening routine and I especially enjoy this combined with the Tone-Up Cream. It’s also a nice soothing option for day time (or exhausted-after-work) skincare too. I would be recommending it for people who want a hydrating cream that is lightweight and absorbs quickly, but still gives you a dewy glow.

Unfortunately, I didn’t see much in terms of lightening pigmentation; I hope that this will change over time and, if it does, I’ll be updating this! (UPDATE: I have finished the tub and, aside from soothing redness, did not notice any brightening).

And that’s my review on the new Jeju Cherry Blossom Tone-Up Cream and Jeju Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream from Innisfree. Remember that you can get this all from the Innisfree Australia website, as well as their Skin and Lotion, which are actually more recommended for dehydrated and dry skin types.

Let me know what you end up picking up down below or on my Instagram! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
