Review: Glow Awakening Cream (Huxley)

Huxley Glow Awakening Cream kbeauty stylekorean review

This product was sent to me by StyleKorean for review purposes. I was not paid for this post but please note that affiliate links are used on my blog. These go towards supporting Oh My Stellar and future content.

After trying out the Huxley Oil & Extract Mask (which I talked about in my YouTube video and will most likely write a review for it later too) I got really into the brand! Their sheet mask did some incredible things for my skin, so I wanted to try out some other products from their line. I checked out the range that StyleKorean had on their website and, although they aren’t a cheap brand, I found that they’re also decently priced for the quality and effect of it.

Since I’m really into brightening products, I decided to try out the Glow Awakening Cream (I was also looking at the Brightly Ever After Essence which I think I will try at a later date too) and I have to say – very boldly – that this is legitimately the best tone up/whitening cream that I have ever used! Since I started getting into kbeauty, I’d been trying out a lot of different tone up creams to brighten and even out my complexion.

Since most of them leave a very obvious white cast on my skin, I end up using them on my neck (to even out colour) since it makes my foundation look too pale without giving me a brightened glow. This product, however, is the exact opposite and it has some great skincare ingredients too – hence why I use it twice a day.

It is selling for USD$32.71 on StyleKorean – which I know isn’t cheap for a kbeauty skincare product but the added cost is definitely worth it. So read on for my full review on this product and rest assured that this is one I am recommending to you!

Review: Skin Editor

Skin Editor Kbeauty Skincare Review Lilac & Berries

It’s been a while since I first wrote about Skin Editor – you can find my previous post about them here – but with the launch of some new products and them being stocked with Australia online store Lilac & Berries, I just had to write about them again! This is going to be a brand spotlight post with some first impressions on the new products, which they so kindly sent over for me to try, as well as a recap on the rest of their line which they have also sent over again.

According to Lilac & Berries, “Skin Editor is founded by Morvanic – a company formed by qualified pharmacists. The company is specialized in treating skin post laser, peeling and clinical care. Their products have been distributed exclusively to hundreds of skin clinics in Korea in the last 10 years.

Skin Editor products are introduced to the market for everyday consumer, its products contain EGF, centella asiatica extracts and hydrating properties such as beta glucan.”

As mentioned, Lilac & Berries is Australian and they currently only ship to Australia and New Zealand. This is great for us locals because it means that we won’t have to deal with exorbitant shipping and exchange rates but, for those internationally who wish to purchase, you can buy it on Amazon from Skin Editor.

At the moment, two of Skin Editor‘s products are available for purchase on Lilac & Berries, though I am sure that more of them will be made available later on. Let’s move into the post now!

Review: Milky Piggy EGF Elastic Retinol Cream (Elizavecca)

Elizavecca Kbeauty Review Kangsi Pack EGF Retinol Cream Masks

A few weeks ago, Elizavecca sent me another package of goodies to try out and review for the blog – and I was pretty crazily ecstatic. One of the products that I was most excited to try out – but also the most nervous about – but this EGF Elastic Retinol Cream. It cleans to be a product used by entertainers (specifically actresses) to achieve their flawless skin complexion. Now, I’m not sure if I believe that these famous kdrama actresses are actually using Elizavecca, but the idea that they’re using a retinol cream for this is actually not much of a stretch.

Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A (also called a retinoid) and is primarily used for wrinkle care and anti-aging to give a more youthful complexion – it has been used in skin care since the 70’s, so it isn’t a new discovery at all. This is an ingredient that is actually backed by dermatologists and you can get both over-the-counter and prescription retinoids (which will be pure retinoid) to used. Retinoids increase cell turnover, so that it is helping to get rid of old and damaged cells. It also thins the top layer of skin while thickening the smoother, second layer to make the skin look more luminous and firm. It also helps to boost collagen production and prevent its break down when it is penetrating deeper into the skin, as well as clearing pores and decreasing oil production (as stated by Real Simple). All in all, retinoids really sound like a magic product!

In addition to this magic, star ingredient, this cream also contains CF-Nest Extract of 80% (which is a very popular product for Asian beauty, helping with moisture balance) and EGF (which is suitable for dry weather and helps to strengthen skin nutrition). Unfortunately, I can’t find information on the % of the retinol ingredient in this, but I jumped right in anyway!

Before trying out this product though, please read all instructions – or at least finish up this review – because retinol is a product that you have to slowly progress your skin into. It’s not okay to just slather your face with it because you will likely not get good results.

Review: Face Cheat (Cinch)

Cinch Face Cheat Beauty Spray Review

How do you get perfect skin? You eat well, drink water, exercise, sleep more… but all of this is pretty difficult when you’re trying to balance it with real life. Nowadays, we’re all pretty busy between working, seeing our families, trying to make time for our friends and – though this doesn’t include me – actually having a romantic relationship too. But what if you could get perfect skin without all of that work?

I have been testing this product for so long and, to be honest, I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to write this. I received this product for review a few weeks ago and I was really excited to try something that claimed to hydrate your skin and provide a beautiful, glowing base for your make up – all in… well, a cinch. After all, that’s the concept of their product.

I live a fairly busy life, working on the weekdays and doing photoshoots on the weekends. Although I never slack off on my make up routine on weekdays (and have seldom done so in the past few years), I find that I often have difficulty keeping up with my skincare routine. This is especially true since I try to follow the Korean multi-step routine – which can take up to half an hour, if not more, and involve a ridiculous number of products.

According to their website, “Save your “to do” list for the fun things in life – pizza, champagne and bad reality TV – and let Cinch Face Cheat take care of moisturizing, anti-ageing, illuminating, pore minimizing and priming. All in one spray.” This product simplifies and shortens your skin care routine as the ultimate multipurpose product that is quick and easy to apply, so you don’t slack off.

In testing the Face Cheat, I was looking to see how this product stood on its own and as part of my full routine. I tried it as skincare as well as as a make up primer, and found that the product has its strengths and benefits.

Review: Aqua Hyaluronic Acid Water Drop Cream (Elizavecca)

Elizavecca Aqua Hyaluronic Acid Water Drop Cream

I’ve been slowly getting back into the swing of doing these reviews so, hopefully, they will be more regular soon enough. I took a bit of time before and during my trip to test a lot these upcoming products since – being skincare – I wanted to be able to give a good review that consisted of more than initial thoughts.

So I have been really lucky lately to be collaborating with Elizavecca. You have most likely heard about their brand before – they went viral a while ago for their interesting bubble masks and the intense hell-pore mask (which I have previously reviewed here). For today, I’ll be introducing to everyone their Aqua Hyaluronic Acid Water Drop Cream – a total mouthful, so from here on I’ll just refer to it as Water Drop Cream.

This is a light weight but highly moisturising cream that, in my opinion, is perfectly suited for the summer weather. It’s special feature is the visible ‘water droplet’ effect when the cream is lightly rubbed onto the skin. I found that it was great to use under make up because it is fast absorbing and leaves skin feeling smooth – also, we all know I’m a sucker for hyaluronic acid. In addition to hydrating our skin, it also had red ginseng extract which had great anti-aging benefits.

Review: Rich Moist Soothing Cream (Klairs)

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream Wishtrend Kbeauty Review

Please note that this post uses affiliate links to WishTrend but all opinions presented are 100% honest and my own.

Hi everyone! I’m back from my three week trip to Japan – did you miss me? During this break I did a lot of shopping, sight seeing and even planning for some future reviews and videos, so I guess that the time off was well needed. I am home now and, aside from being back behind my desk at work, I also returned to a lot of backed up reviews to write, packages to unbox and photos to edit. It’s a bit exhausting at the moment and I’m not sure of where to start, but I figured that I would do what I do best and just… well, jump in!

So for today, I’ll be reviewing a super simple but effective moisturising cream from Klairs. This was sent to be for review by WishTrend and is my first time approaching this brand – though I’ve heard a lot of people mention them. I wasn’t sure of what to expect when they sent me the package but, what I learnt in this experience is that sometimes you really can judge a book by it’s cover. This cream is exactly what it looks like – simple, no-frills but effective.

A lot of people that message me about kbeauty (whether it is cosmetic or skincare) are relatively new to the world of beauty and, in their confusion, are looking for an understandable place to start. The thing with Korean skincare is that it is very complex – it is about layering, and pH levels and ingredients and absorption and effectors and… it can be exhausting. For this reason, I think that this product is really suitable for beginners!

Read on to find out why.

New Release & Review: Olivarrier

Olivarrier Roseroseshop Brand Spotlight Review Gentle Glow Seed Polishing Mask Dual Moist Toning Lotion Emollient Extra Comfort Cream

It’s been a while since I really wrote about a new release but I’m really glad to get the chance to try and write about Olivarrier. I love seeing new brands launch in the beauty industry, partly because we are always so tough about the products and also being it’s wonderful to see new perspectives break into what is sort of like a closed circle of beauty companies. Fresh perspectives, new products and industry developments – I live for that. I was sent these products to test and review by RoseRoseShop who are so great to beauty bloggers, always seeking out (and giving) honest opinions for their customers. Be sure to check out their store and, onto the review I go!

So Olivarrier is a fairly new brand that launched around late last year. It’s still fairy new even with us bloggers, but I really liked their brand image and concept – all of their products are meant to be controlled at the optimal pH level of 5.5 which, for those who don’t know, is the level you should try to maintain your skin at in order to prevent damaging your acid mantle (your protective layer). You can read more about it here but, basically, your skin can become damaged due to many factors – even natural aging processes.

The brand focuses a lot on safe ingredients, gentle formulas suitable for sensitive skin and strong hydration. They are free of chemical preservatives, coloring agents, fragrances and 26 Allergenic Components selected by the EU.

Review: White in Whipping Cream (G9 Skin)

G9 Skin Berrisom White in Whipping Cream Review BB Cosmetic

When I came back from Korea, I’d brought back so much that I knew my blog would be back logged for ages – and I’m right because I just finished drafting around thirty five new review posts, and that isn’t even everything yet. It’s a bit daunting to look at that number, but I figured that there’s no better to time kick back in so here I am!

The first review I’ll be doing is for a product that I was actually gifted by BB Cosmetic. I met up with one of their managers, Elle, while I was in Seoul and she was so, so sweet. We had some trouble finding each other in Hongdae because I didn’t have a phone to properly contact her, but we finally met, had dinner and just chatted in general. She gave me a few products from the company to review, so I’m really happy that I got to test this.

I actually didn’t come across G9 Skin in Korea, most likely because they are very new. The brand is a sister brand (I think) of Berrisom, both of which aren’t exactly road shop brands so you need to find a stockist for them. Luckily for us though, they are very easily accessible online.

Review: Beauty Moisturizer EX (VDL)

bb cosmetic review kbeauty korean makeup skincare vdl beauty moisturizer moisturiser ex

And so started my mini love affair with VDL. Prior to this, the only VDL product I had used was their shading liquid – this one hadn’t impressed me very much as both the colour and thin fluid didn’t allow me much control. However, I was contacted by BB Cosmetic recently and they sent me a sample of the Beauty Moisturizer. I gladly accepted, as I was really wanting to given VDL another chance and, goodness, I am glad I did.

I started testing this one before I left for Korea and actually made up my mind about it really quickly – it was very convincing. I actually purchased a bunch of other products from VDL while I was over there too, so there will be more reviews from this brand to come.

For now, read on for my thoughts on this product. You can pick yours up from BB Cosmetic, and don’t forget to use my code for 8% off your purchase: QAL3F6ZA8YZ

With that, it’s on with the review!

Review: Snow Lotus White Tone Up Cream (Petitfee)

Kbeauty Review RoseRoseShop Koelf Skincare Petitfee

Hi everyone! Double post for today because these have been sitting in my drafts for the longest time and I’ve tested it for plenty long enough to give my thoughts. This product is the Snow Lotus White Tone Up Cream by Petitfee, a Korean brand that exists in partnership (or under) Koelf. This is meant to give an instant brightening effect though I’m not entirely sure of whether it is meant to have long-term melanin reduction effects like the other whitening cream that I use (Cloud9). This product is designed to be used anywhere on the body and is meant to be applied as the last step of your skincare regime.

I received this product to try out by RoseRoseShop and I was really interested to try out another whitening cream. For the past year or so, I have been using Cloud9 almost exclusively and, although it is proven to be effective, the main issue I have with it is that it’s quite drying on the skin – which is quite common for whitening products, but worse when it contains pigmentation (how the instant brightening happens). I’m hoping that this product is different in that sense.
