Diary: The Perfect Lipstick (MAC Cosmetics)

MAC Cosmetics Lipstick Review Event

This product and shade matching experience was offered to me as part of MAC Cosmetics’s Lipstick campaign. I was not paid for this post and affiliate links are not used in this post.

MAC Cosmetics is so well known for their lipstick formulas that – to be honest – I don’t think there are any beauty junkies out there that haven’t tried them at least once; or if there are, there’s very few. When I was younger and just starting to experiment with make up, mostly using it for singing performances, MAC Cosmetics was a brand that I really idolised. I loved the colours and their professional, ‘cool girl’ image.

So, I’m pretty over the moon about the fact that they’ve given me the opportunity to work with them again. This will be my second time already, with the first being their Studio Fix Fluid Foundation Campaign, and this is actually even more perfect for me. I got my first high end lipstick to MAC Cosmetics (#Dubonnet) and, after all these years, I still have that same sense of excitement when I explore their massive range. I’ve since found a bunch of shades that I love from their range and also retired some old favourites of mine (why did I ever wear a bright pink lipstick?), but the one thing that I haven’t found yet is my perfect nude lipstick.

I never actually wear nude lipsticks (only somewhat neutral shades) because I haven’t been able to find anything that doesn’t fully wash me out. But, when it comes to MAC, there is legit something for everyone, so it’s impossible to be disappointed.

So, let’s get into some photos of the Paddington MAC Pro Store store, which is where I went to find my perfect lipstick shade, as well as some things that I’ve learnt about their range and offerings.

Diary: A Glowing Complexion for #EveryShadeOfYou (MAC Cosmetics)

MAC Every Shade of You Studio Fix Fluid Promotion Event

A few weeks ago, I was lucky to be invited to the MAC Cosmetics Sydney Broadway store as part of their #EveryShadeOfYou campaign – to celebrate 25 years of their Studio Fix Fluid foundation in Australia, which now boasts a wide range of fifty shades for Every Shade Of You.

It was a fairly easy afternoon for me and I had a great time at the MAC Cosmetics store. I went in with almost no make up (save for sunscreen) and got matched to a few different foundation shades, then learnt how to use some of their other products. Aside from testing out their foundation, their make up artist also complemented the make up with a selection of products from their line to create my ideal finish. I went for a glowing, highlighted finish to suit my combination skin (and love for a natural radiance) so also got to learn about a couple of other products.

So, I’ll first show you guys some photos I got of the store (Why is MAC always so sleek and beautiful? Entering their store is always like jumping into some sort of dimensional warp) before going into the products that I picked up, my thoughts on them and some tips and tricks I learnt on how to achieve my perfect glowing complexion.

Diary: Anxiety & Getting Better

Photo by Max van den Oetelaar on Unsplash

I contemplated for a long time whether or not to write this – not because I am at all ashamed of it, but because I’m very unsure of how people might receive this sort of content on my blog. Mental Health is a topic that has been close to my heart since high school, when I first started to understand the struggles of people around me, and unfortunately it is also one that we don’t discuss enough. Every time it is brought up, the words Anxiety and Depression are spoken in hushed whispers, like it’s a secret that needs to be buried and hidden.

Except it isn’t. Not at all.

Diary: Things that I love (and aren’t beauty related)

Photo by Wang Xi on Unsplash

So this is something a little bit different, but I did make a new years resolution (not sure if it was this year or last) that I wanted to do more personal posts on my blog so that people could actually get to know me and my life – rather than just a plethora of beauty posts and product reviews (though I bet that that’s why people come here anyway).  I actually drafted up a couple of headings and I have a few heavier topics that I want to write about, but I figured that it’s better to start off on a lighter foot.

Plus, I’m writing this while watching an episode of Criminal Minds, and that really isn’t the right mood to write about the darkness of my soul – is it?

So, kicking this off, I’m going to list and share a couple of things that I absolutely love and that have nothing to do with beauty at all – no products, no regimes and no make up trends. Just me, and everything else that makes me who I am.

Diary: Pony x Shiseido Masterclass

Pony Shiseido Masterclass

When I first got into kbeauty, I started to follow a handful of makeup artists and influencers on Youtube – one of the first being Pony. She’s a very famous Korean youtuber who got her start with a makeup blog and a resulting how-to book, but she has since moved on to be a beauty creator with her own channel and a bunch of brand collaborations. I respect her a lot as a beauty influencer, as I find that she has a lot of personal tips to share, which are especially good for people wanting to improve their own skills or to experiment (but perhaps not as relevant for professional make up artists). That being said, when I found out that she was coming to Sydney for a Masterclass, I bought tickets right away!  All of her videos and tutorials are great for people who want to improve and learn to do make up for themselves (me included), while also exploring some more professional and artistic techniques and styles too.

I was also really excited because I rarely get the chance to meet these big Youtubers in person – especially one from Asia! Only a handful of people will come to Australia so most of our events are generally Aussie Youtubers only. I was also really excited to see Pony in person because… goodness, she is just so pretty and I think I just needed visual proof that she actually exists in this realm. LOL.

This isn’t going to be much of a blog post but I generally just wanted to share some photos from the day. Here we go!
