All-Time Favourite Make Up Products to Rebuild Your Collection

We’ve all thought about it: what if our entire make up collection just disappeared one day? I actually think it’s useful to consider this (hopefully) hypothetical situation as it helps to hone in on the best of the best. This is a list of my favourite Western Make Up products in every category – things that I would repurchase in a heartbeat. Hopefully, this is useful for people looking to simplify their routine, declutter their life or even make up beginners who don’t have where to start.

Let me know what you think in the comments and if you end up checking any of these out! I may also put together some skincare and k-beauty lists in the future.

10 Gorgeous Make Up Products - Beauty Feature Article

Please note that referral and/or affiliate links are used in this post.

The beauty industry moves fast and there are new release products coming out almost every day. With the prominence of social media, it’s also impossible to deny how important packaging is. Whilst the actual formula and product is still the most important, you can’t have a successful product unless you’re nice to look at too! That’s my opinion anyway.

In this list, I’ll be sharing with you some gorgeous packaging and also why I love them (from both a designer and consumer perspective). Consider this a gift guide or even a shopping guide for when you’re wanting to make your next purchase.

As reference, I love packaging design that is unique, speaks well to the brand identity but is also practical and highly functional. So, don’t expect me to be listing pizza shapes eyeshadow palettes or chunky, cat paw lipsticks though – no one has the time (or vanity space) for that!

Xmas Shopping Guide 2020 - Header

Last updated 2 November 2020

It’s that time of the year again – holiday releases are coming. I’ve been keeping an eye on some of these launches and, while some brands have slacked off a little in 2020 (understandable given how the pandemic has impacted everything), there are still a lot of great ones! From celebratory eyeshadow palettes to brilliant skincare sets – there’s so much to choose from.

It would be exhaustive to include absolutely everything, so this article mostly features things that I’m personally interested in trying or think would be a great gift option. Most, if not all, of these will be beauty related and available either in Australian stockists or online – all information which you will find here, of course.

Please note that this list is also being updated as new announcements are made so let me know if there’s a brand or release you think I should add in!

Now let’s start shopping!

Review: Killawatt Foil Duo (Fenty Beauty)

Fenty Beauty Killawatt Foil Duo Mimosa Sunrise Sangria Sunset

One of my favourite brands in Western beauty at the moment is Fenty Beauty and I have been very vocal about my support for them since their launch. Since then, they have released a few different collections, all of which have been so beautiful (you can see my first impression of the Galaxy Collection on my channel) but I have been consciously trying to buy less make up so I didn’t splurge on the entire line like I did before.

For this release, which is a bit old news now because it was the summer collection, Fenty Beauty brought out some eyeshadow duos – called the Killawatt Foil Duo. They were released in three different shades and I picked up Mimosa Sunrise/Sangria Sunset which is a beautiful pink and orange duo that caught my eyes immediately. It’s been so long that I was planning on skipping this post but, with their new products launching soon, I figured that I might as well.

You’ll be glad to know that these duos are permanent in the collection and are selling for either USD$36 on the Fenty Beauty website or AUD$54 on the Sephora Australia website.

Anyway, so that’s my introduction to this post! I will be keeping this short or read on for my review!

Review: Fenty Beauty

Fenty Beauty Sephora Review

Regardless of whether you’re a kbeauty fan or a western beauty lover, there is no doubt that Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty release is the launch of the year! There’s been so much talk about it all over Instagram and Youtube and, even though I thought that I would be avoiding this rush – I caved.

With how fast things were selling out, I headed to Sephora during my lunch break and got a couple of products that I’ve been especially in love with. There’s actually a few more things that I wanted to get but I wasn’t absolutely sold about them yet, so maybe I’ll pick them up later. For now, I have the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer, the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo and a Match Stix Matte Skinstick. Although it isn’t the full collection, I think that I have a good enough variety to give my thoughts on this brand – it’s strengths, weaknesses and why I am obsessed!

As I disclaimer, I had to admit that I do love Rihanna as a singer and a celebrity. I haven’t been following much of her recent work but she was one of my idols during high school and music college – I love her Good Girl Gone Bad – Rehab sort of era and it’s been years and I am still not over it. That being said, I judge make up products by the quality and not the celebrity behind it so below are my honest opinions on everything.

Are you ready? Let’s go!
